Registering as a User (Get User ID)(external link)
After you register as a user of the Insolvency and Trustee Service web site, you can:
-
View additional estate information when searching the Insolvency Register.

Make online claims.
-
Use 'Do it Online' to apply for formal insolvency (Bankruptcy, No Asset Procedure, or Summary Instalment Order.)

Act as a Summary Installment Order Supervisor.

Manage your user account, including:
-
Changing your password.
-
Changing your email address.
-
Managing your secret question / answer information (which is used for security purposes to identify you, if required).

Specifying how often you must change your password.
-
Requesting a new password, e.g. if you have forgotten your previous password.

Registering as a user is a 2 step process.
-
Request a user ID by entering your information on the User Account Details screen and submitting it. The system will create a "Pending" user account and will send an email to you with an activation code for the account.

Activate your account using the activation code emailed to you. You must activate the account before you can logon as a registered user.
When you register, a user account is created. This account can be for a single user, or it can be for an organisation where the applicant can act as a user account administrator.
Organisation user account administrators can set up user accounts for other users within the organisation and manage users and branches.
Register Procedure

From the Welcome to ITS Home Page, select the REGISTER button from the top right hand side of the screen to display the Registration Detail screen.

Complete the fields on the screen. Fields on the screen marked with a red asterisk (*) are mandatory.

If you are working for an organisation and want to have the ability to add and maintain multiple users and branches linked to this account, check the 'If you are working for an Organisation, click here to enter the details' checkbox. Further fields will be displayed. Enter the details required to create an organisation user account. If you want to specify a different address for the organisation postal address, uncheck the 'This is also the postal address' box to display another set of address fields.

Select SUBMIT to save your account details and display the Logon Details screen.
Note: If you enter an email address that has already been registered in the system, a warning message will be displayed on the screen. Select the SUBMIT button again to continue. For example, this will occur if 2 individuals wish to have separate user accounts but are sharing a common email address, or in an organisation where all email goes to a single email address.

The Logon Details screen is used to record your user accounts such as password, secret question, email address, etc.

Complete the fields on the Logon Details screen.
Notes: Your User Name must contain be a combination of letters and numbers and be between 7 and 20 characters long. User Names are case sensitive. Your password must be a combination of letters and numbers and be between 7 and 255 characters long. Passwords are case sensitive. To regularly expire your password, leave the 'Expire My Password after' check box checked and specify how many days before the password expires (between 1 and 99 days), or check the 'Never Expire My Password' if you do not wish to change your password at regularly defined intervals. Use the pick lists to select a secret question and an answer to the secret question. These questions will be used as a security feature to aid in identifying you, for example if you forget your password.

Check the box to confirm that you accept the Terms & Conditions and Privacy Statement conditions.

Select the SAVE button and an Activation email will be sent to the email address you entered.

To activate the account, you need to copy and paste the activation code that the system will email to you into the appropriate field in the Activate User Account screen. See Activating your User Account for further information.

After completing the Logon Details screen, you will be sent an email headed Account Activation.
Note: If you received an activation code in the post as part of a different process, go to Step 4.

Click on the Activation Link hyperlink in the email and it will take you directly to the Complete User Account Creation screen.

Enter your username and password and press the Confirm Registration button. You will then be logged in to the Insolvency database. No further action is required.

If you received an activation code through the post, copy the activation code into the User Account Activation Code field.

Select the SAVE button to complete activation of your user account. The Complete User Account Creation screen will be displayed.

Enter your User Name and Password, then press ENTER or select the LOGON button to log on to the Insolvency database.
To view help about setting up and managing users and branches for your organisation after you have completed the registration process:

Log on using your organisation user ID and password.
-
Select the HELP button from the top right of the screen.
-
Select User Accounts / Organisation Administration from the help menu.

From the Welcome to ITS Home Page, select the LOGON button from top right hand side of the screen to display the Logon screen.

Enter your user ID and password, then select ENTER, or select the LOGON button situated below the User Name and Password fields. The Welcome to ITS Home Page will be redisplayed. You will now have access to registered user functions, such as registering claims, using the Insolvency online services and managing your user account.
If you have forgotten the password for your account, you can request a new password. The system will generate a new password and email it to the email address set up for your user account. Once you receive the email, you can then logon.
For security reasons, when you logon with the password emailed to you, the system will immediately make you change your password again.
Procedure

From the Welcome to ITS Home Page, select the Logon button to display the Logon screen.

Select the underlined 'Forgot My Password' hyperlink to display the Reset My Password screen.

Enter your User Name. You must enter a valid User Name.
Note: User names are case sensitive.

Select SUBMIT, then enter the answer to your secret question (not case sensitive).

Select SUBMIT. The Logon screen will be displayed and a new password will be sent to the email address specified in your user account.

After you have received your new password, log on using the password that was emailed to you. The Change My Password screen will be displayed to enable you to change the password emailed to you immediately.

Complete the User Name, Current Password (i.e. the one emailed to you), New Password and Confirm Password fields in the Change My Password screen.

Select SUBMIT. The Welcome to ITS Home Page will be redisplayed.
My Estate
If you are already bankrupt, you require permission if you wish to travel overseas. The fastest way to do this is to apply electronically. You must be logged on to do this.
You should have already received registration details from ITS to enable you to log in, but if you are not sure, ring our Contact Centre 0508 467 658. Do not try to obtain a new User Account.
To apply for approval to travel:

Log on to the website.
-
Select Apply for Travel Request from the Welcome to ITS page.

The request screen will be pre-populated with your contact details. If they are not correct, click on the link to update them in case we need to contact you regarding your request.

Complete the request details to explain where you want to travel and why.
-
If you will be moving around to more than one address, use the add button to list all of the addresses that you will be staying at.

To speed up the processing of your application please attach any documents that will clarify the details eg a letter from your employer or an itinerary.

Check the tick box to confirm that you have read and understood the contents of the Notice to Bankrupt sent to you when you first became bankrupt.

You can either Save the application if you need to find further information and complete it later, or click on Submit to send the application now.

After you have clicked on Submit, click Yes to confirm the application, or No if you don’t want to proceed.

A copy of the application will be emailed to you automatically.
-
You will receive your reply by email after three working days.
Possible error messages:
-
If you are not eligible for electronic consent, you will see a message that your request cannot be processed electronically. This could be because your bankruptcy is still in the early stages or because your previous application hasn’t been finalised yet. Contact us on the phone number provided.

You may get a message that a valid estate cannot be found. Contact us on the phone number provided.

You cannot apply for approval electronically if you wish to travel in less than three working days as there will not be sufficient time to process your application. Please contact us on 0508 467 658 if you require urgent approval.
During your bankruptcy, No Asset Procedure, or Summary Instalment Order, you must notify the Official Assignee whenever you change your name, address, employment or income. The fastest way to do this is electronically. You must be logged on to do this.
You should have already received registration details from ITS to enable you to log in, but if you are not sure, ring our Contact Centre 0508 467 658. Do not try to obtain a new User Account.
To update my personal details:

Log on to the website.

Select Update Personal Details from the Welcome to ITS page.

The update screen will be pre-populated with the details you have already provided to us. If they have changed, click on the Change button under the appropriate section(s) and it will allow you to edit the information.

Complete / update the fields, or click on Cancel if you made a mistake.

When you are satisfied that all of the information is correct, click the tick box at the bottom of the screen then click on Submit.

Click on Confirm to send the information.

An email confirming the changes will be sent to you automatically.
